Butter the slices of bread.
Place them (flat) in a buttered dish that can withstand the passage in the oven., the unbuttered side at the bottom of the dish.
Peel the apples, cut them into slices like for a pie.
Arrange a first layer of apples on each slice of bread, powder with sugar. Apply a second layer. Put the rest of the sugar and the butter cut into pieces on the apples.
Bake in hot oven th. 7-8 (250°C).
These apple crusts should be golden and slightly caramelized.
