The plant-based burger from Beyond Meat tastes and looks like a traditional burger

And as of today, the burgers from Beyond Meat are also for sale in the Netherlands!

Beyond Meat is a worldwide phenomenon when it comes to vegetable meat products. But as of today, the American brand is finally introducing their burger in the Dutch supermarket. We were allowed to taste the burger last Friday. And to be fair, if we hadn't known that the burger was vegetarian, we wouldn't have tasted it either.

Proteins, fats, minerals and water

Beyond Meat makes their product from the idea that all the nutritional value of meat; proteins, fats, minerals and water can also be found in nature. Peas provide the protein, beets provide the fleshy red hue and coconut oil and potato starch provide juiciness and bite. Because all the nutritional value comes back, you could in principle also call the plant-based burger from Beyond Meat vlees meat, just not from an animal. More proteins

A Beyond Burger contains more protein than a traditional hamburger, less fat, no GMOs, soy or gluten. The production of a Beyond Burger requires 99% less water, 93% less land and almost half the energy required by a traditional burger. Also 90% less CO2 is emitted during production.
