When you think of a festival, you probably primarily think of music and less elaborately thought-out food. Albert Heijn will prove for the third time this year that it can also be a culinary masterpiece. The Allerhande Christmas Festival will once again be held in Utrecht on 8, 9 and 10 December. Do you break a sweat at the thought of the Christmas menu? Are you still urgently looking for inspiration? Or do you just fancy a fun (and tasty!) day out? Then this is the festival for you! A wonderful foretaste of Christmas:3 days of food and drink, but without the in-laws!
Last year I also went to take a look and I would like to tell you how we liked the Allerhande Christmas Festival. In any case, consider it a call to make the effort to buy tickets on time this year. It is always sold out quickly, but really worth a look. That's what I think, that's what Frank thinks, and that's what the children think!

The Christmas dinner:a fine example of cooking if you manage to put it on the table without any stress. They know this like the best at Albert Heijn! That is why you can score luxury Christmas menus where you almost don't have to do anything anymore. Would you rather make dinner a little more work? Then you can get all the culinary inspiration you need at the Allerhande Christmas Festival. If you are not much of a cook, but you do love food and drink, then it is also recommended. You can find exactly the dishes that you like to present during Christmas, but that are not too difficult to make. Or you can get it ready-made and only have to put it in the oven. In short, everyone is in the right place there. Young and old walk around and everything in between.
As mentioned, you'll find all your Christmas inspiration here. The great thing about it is that you not only find the information, but you can also taste everything! You can taste delicious snacks and festive wines (almost everyone walks around with a wine glass 😉). And if the tasting is to your satisfaction, in a number of cases you can also buy directly if you want.
For example, we once gained the inspiration for our Christmas Eve dinner with friends. A delicious filled roulade that we were allowed to taste at the Allerhande Christmas Festival and of which we immediately knew… this will be it! Nice and easy too, because all it had to do was put it in the oven 😉 .
The venison steak could also be approved by the whole family, except that there is no deer on my table. It will undoubtedly be delicious, but the 'they have had a better life than any other animal' comment from the cook also failed to convince me, haha. I only see Bambi's eyes in front of me. Too bad for the kids, because they loved it, but hey… the one who cooks decides, right?
All the test is included in the price, so you only pay the entrance and can try everything. The kids think that's magical too. Just grab what you want to try. From fish to meat and from savory to sweet. The tastiest ice creams and desserts... you'll find it all here!
In addition to all the inspiration in the field of food and drinks, there is also a pleasant, active program. For example, there are always workshops to follow and on the drinks square and other squares you will often find the necessary entertainment, such as roasting marshmallows over a campfire. I think I also see a 'Ferris wheel' this time. In addition to this entertainment, workshops are also organized. Last year, for example, in the field of barbeque, an olive tasting and making Christmas pieces.
And the kids had also been thought of:they could visit the Kids Kook Café. Luc and Lotte did not participate in this workshop, but they did join the craft workshop where they both made a nice snowman. Nice for the Christmas village!
This year there are also very nice workshops to follow.
At the creative workshops you will find the opportunity to fold poinsettias, make Christmas picks (cuties!), make a garland mobile and pimp your Christmas balls.
In the field of food, you can follow a wine workshop by Harold Hamersma, called 'Don't talk but drink'. That's one for me . There are also workshops for main courses and desserts, for cooking with the Allerhande Box during Christmas, but also for Christmas cooking in the future or cooking the dish from the cover! That's always a dish I'm salivating looking at, isn't it?
And that wasn't it yet, you can register for many more workshops to be inspired.
The Allerhande Christmas Festival is organized in the Railway Museum in Utrecht, a wonderful location to wander around. Very nicely decorated, with a nice drink square to start or end, just what you want.
The Christmas Festival will be held on December 8, 9 and 10 and will be open from 10am to 8pm.
You pay € 15.00 per person and then food and drinks are included. You can try and taste everything. For children from 6 years old you pay € 10.00 entrance.
You can buy the tickets here if you want.
You cannot park there. Or at least… almost not. But that doesn't mean it's not well organized. You can park for the Allerhande Christmas Festival on the Uithof in a parking garage where there is always room. Buses run to and fro that take you to the Railway Museum, so in 10 minutes you are at the front door of the Railway Museum without having to look for a place. Ideal!
Have you ever been to the Albert Heijn Christmas festival? Then I'm curious about what you think. Let me know!
