Savory muffins are good and very practical to taste (they even make less crumbs than a baguette sandwich). Peppers/chorizo, tuna/pickles or simply bacon/cheese, all combinations are possible (or almost) and you can accompany them with a small salad. They can also be considered as a dessert, in a sweet version.
We do not replace the traditional sandwich! Mixed, with tuna, turkey... We have to admit, we love it in all its forms. In addition, if you choose wholemeal bread, you are sure to have a full stomach for several hours. As a result, we want to swim, sunbathe and have fun all afternoon without the risk of hearing our stomach rumbling an hour after lunch. We think of designing it in a balanced way:proteins (meat, fish or vegetable proteins such as hummus) and vegetables (lettuce leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, corn, grilled vegetables). Our favorite recipes:tuna/tomatoes/mozzarella and cooked ham/green salad/grilled vegetables. Yum!
In the healthy recipe category, it is impossible to dethrone salads. Easy to prepare, low in calories, rich in fibre… They are also endlessly available. In addition to tomatoes, cucumber and corn, we add cereals or legumes to give ourselves energy:wholemeal pasta, rice, red beans, chickpeas… And we season as we please! Yes yes, in summer everything is allowed. Place the seasoned salad in an airtight box and serve with plastic cutlery. Another healthy option:cold soup. With cucumber and mint or just in a gazpacho version, keep it in a thermos to keep it cool.
Well the quiche is not a calorie bomb either, it's just the richest recipe on this list. But in any case, it makes everyone agree, big or small. And even if we love Lorraine, made with crème fraîche and lardons, we can vary and make one with tuna and cream which is excellent, eaten cold. The spinach/smoked salmon option is also very good. And what's more, it keeps very well so you can make it the day before.
Here is a surprising but nevertheless possible alternative:sushi and other makis. Well, it's clearly not the first thing you think of when you talk about a picnic at the beach, but after all, it's easy to get carried away, it's fresh and it can be eaten in small bites! Plus it's filling so you don't need 15 sushi to be full. Japanese food fans will be happy.
Finally, whatever you choose, don't forget to bring small biscuits and especially thirst-quenching fruits:peaches, apricots, plums, melons, watermelons... These juicy summer desserts allow you to fill up on vitamins what we need at the beach! And of course, we think of the essentials of the picnic.
