Here is a culinary invention that will delight some people as much as it will disgust others. It comes straight from New Zealand:it's chocolate butter! And the best part is that the creators of this novelty were more or less inspired by French heritage… One of them, Peter Cullinane, founder of the dairy products company Lewis Road Creamery, had organized a tea party based of tea and local pastries one afternoon at his company. He tells the Daily Reporter :“While we were going to get more croissants from the bakery, we had the idea of mixing chocolate and butter for the first time. As soon as we tasted the result, we knew we had something special .
The experimentation then led to a real recipe, developed by the company of Peter Cullinane and New Zealand chocolate producers Whittaker's. Called Lewis Road Creamery Chocolate Butter, the product, which is made of butter produced by the dairy chain and 72% cocoa dark chocolate from Ghana, looks like a spread. It succeeds a creation from the same collaboration that has been all the rage in the country for several years:chocolate milk. “We had no idea it would become such a phenomenon. There were long queues in the supermarkets “says Peter Cullinane. We just have to wait to see if the chocolate butter meets similar success... And a little advice from the entrepreneur:"The best way to consume it, in my opinion, is with a hot croissant ". That's what it says!
For those who are already licking their chops, bad news:the product is only available in New Zealand. The creators, however, plan to export it to Australia and the United Kingdom. So we keep hope…
