Edenred is a company specializing in prepaid service vouchers. It was this same firm that in 1962 created the restaurant ticket. The group is present in 42 countries and sought to find out what were the modes of consumption during the lunch break in 14 different countries in order to better understand the expectations of its customers. A total of 25,000 employees were questioned about their lunchtime habits. For the French, the lunch break lasts on average between 35 and 60 minutes. We like to share this meal with friends or work colleagues and the most ordered type of formula is "starter-main course-dessert". According to the study, 56% of French people consider this midday meal as a moment of relaxation and the preferred place to eat is the restaurant just in front of the company canteen.
In Germany, 54% of employees prefer to bring their meals already prepared to work. 69% of German employees surveyed say they are concerned by organic labels. In Greece, 65% of employees take between 15 and 30 minutes to eat lunch, it is one of the fastest countries. Greeks favor local products, more than 67 of those questioned prefer family meals. We are now changing continents with Brazil where lunch is the most important meal of the day. It is a moment of happiness and relaxation for Brazilians who favor self-service restaurants. Finally, it is in Mexico that we find the most employees who eat in more than 45 minutes (48% in all). Of all the participants, 62% think that lunch is a physiological need to eat lunch and 46% of workers go to "fondas" to eat. These are large collective kitchens where Mexicans meet to share convivial meals!
