Regularly pastry chefs try to create the new fashionable dessert. We think of Dominique Hansel's cronut which appeared in 2013 in New York, a tasty mix between donut and croissant. Last year, we saw on Instagram ice cream served in a cone made of donut dough. And this year it was an American pastry shop, the B Sweet Dessert Bar located in Los Angeles, which did even better. The American brand posted on Instagram its new invention, a mix between our two favorite desserts, which it baptized Halo, a donut filled not with cream, but with ice cream.
The B Sweet Dessert Bar has succeeded in creating a surprising dessert that plays with the senses since it is hot on the outside and cold on the inside. The scoop of ice cream is “heat sealed” into the donut which is cooked in a hot press for 10 seconds. Results ? A soft and warm donut with a frozen interior, without the two materials mixing. The pastry shop makes its "Halos" on demand, which allows you to choose your flavor:vanilla, mint, cookies and cream, chocolate or even ube (original and a crazy color =the perfect combo for Instagram).
We would almost want to go to Los Angeles to be able to taste it!
