A culinary novelty has just emerged on the Web and it is the "Bizza"! Presented last week at the “Food at Work Student Awards”, a competition intended to reward culinary innovation by students in Belgium, the creation won first prize. It is actually a pizza made from spent grain, wort and beer yeast from local brewers, the recipe for which was developed by KU Leuven students.
The Food at Work Student Awards has a section for French-speaking high school students. And for this 10th edition, it is the "Abricotam" of the students of the Athénée Royal Agri Saint-Georges which imposed itself on the first step of the podium. This sparkling drink has the particularity of being made from syrup recovered from preserves and then mixed with an extract of exotic fruits. "Abricotam confirms that young people see potential in the use of seaweed since it contains lithothamnium, an algae with a high calcium content", comments Guy Paternoster, President of the Belgian Food Industry Federation Wallonia. (Fevia).
Belgium is sorely lacking in workers in the catering sector, so this competition also aims to encourage new vocations... In the meantime, we wonder what taste this Bizza could have!
