- leftover stale bread (baguette or country bread)
- 4 slices of Parma ham:about 60 g at €27.62 or €1.66
- 1 ball of mozzarella:around 125 g at €5.76 per kilo, i.e. €0.72
- 2 large tomatoes:around 300 g at €2.50 per kilo, i.e. €0.75
- olive oil, garlic, salt &pepper
Or bruschettas costing me €0.78 per person or even €3.13 for 4 people.
1. I cut the bread in half lengthwise, so that I have large slices of bread.
2. I rub my cut slices of bread with a clove of garlic then I pour a drizzle of olive oil over it.
3. I wash and cut my tomatoes into slices. I cut my mozzarella into strips.
4. I arrange my tomatoes, my ham and my mozzarella on my slices of bread.
5. I put in the oven for 10 minutes and serve with a fresh salad.
This most economical recipe allows you to decorate your slices of stale bread with the ingredients of your choice:ham, various cheeses, peppers, etc. Take stock of your fridge, look at the perishable ingredients and garnish your bruschettas!
