Do you recognize that? That you (almost) always take the same wine from the supermarket shelves? We do. And even though we drink a little less these days, I'm a bit done with the standard wines that I know by now. Actually, I think it's a good idea. Drink less wine, but taste more different wines. We had different types of wine in the house anyway. Not just to taste the wine at home, but simply because we are used to doing it that way. Our 'regular' wine that we always have in house:a Chardonnay and a Merlot. I'm not a big fan of rosé wines, so white and red are standard in the cupboard. These wines appear when there is nothing special but I do want to drink a glass of wine (alone or together). These are the standard wines that are tasty, but of which I now know the taste.
For example, I open such a bottle with dinner during the week when I really feel like a glass of wine, but more and more I don't drink during the week. But I also open such a bottle on a standard weekend when we are at home and I do drink a glass of wine, but Frank does not, for example. I tend to drink a few glasses of this wine without really thinking about it. Kinda stupid, but it's true.
When we have visitors, I think it's more fun to serve a special wine. And for that we have Eros. Eros is a charming Italian who has turned wine tasting into an art at home. We got to know him during a dinner with friends when that was still possible 😉 . He cooked for us and served his wines with the delicious Italian comfort food he served. With a story.
Every wine he let us taste at home had its own story that was told by him in English (with a sultry accent) when serving it. And those were 6 top stories! How we enjoyed it then. Of course with the idea that we could make a selection from those delicious wines ourselves to order from him for home. Nice wine to serve at home and taste with other friends. We have had a wine subscription for a while. Just like we receive a food box every week and I have a biweekly subscription to flowers, we now receive a box with three delicious wines from Vinobox once a month. Tip:save the cards and actually write those notes. In addition, give the wine a number of stars, for example.
