Picky:'Tinder from dinner'

The new Belgian application Picky makes finding a recipe that the whole household likes easier than ever. Users only have to swipe left or right through dishes, as they already do today in various dating apps. Picky bundles recipes from various chefs and food bloggers and already contains more than 200 recipes.

"What are we eating tonight?" – almost everyone knows the frustration of wandering through the supermarket or through recipe books without inspiration, looking for a healthy, tasty or new recipe for dinner. The new Belgian app Picky – the 'Tinder of dinner' – puts an end to that once and for all.

Picky bundles dishes from well-known chefs and food bloggers from Belgium and abroad. The app allows users to explore those dishes while swiping. If recipes are dragged to the right, that is a like and that recipe ends up in the personal collection. Couples, friends or roommates can also invite each other to swipe together via the app. If they like the same recipe, it is a match and they can schedule or keep the recipe for later. Endless negotiations in which as many recipes as vetoes are shared among friends or couples are thus definitely a thing of the past.

Today Picky bundles recipes from various Belgian and foreign chefs and food bloggers, including The Messy Chef, The Lemon Kitchen, The BBQ Bastard, Hap en Tap and Macaron Manon. At the moment, Picky's collection has more than 200 recipes – that's more than six months worth of different dishes – and more are being added all the time.

Examples of recipes that can already be found on Picky include spaghetti with garlic, minced meat and chickpeas; leek soup with apple, curry and smoked salmon; lemon tart with summer fruits; and a chicken skewer with beer sauce and peach. Picky links directly to the website of partner chefs and bloggers, where users will find the full recipe and ingredient list.

The app also allows you to set personal preferences. Based on those preferences, Picky can recommend one custom dish – for whom even swiping through the dishes takes too much time. Picky will eventually also launch additional AI functionalities in its application, making it even better able to predict user tastes and preferences.

Picky is completely free for users and can be downloaded today from the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.
