I used a pack from Funcakes, which I received from Kroon op at work in the Autumn Foodybox.
But in principle you can use all kinds of cake mix if you want to bake a cake in the slow cooker. Or you can mix the flour, butter, sugar, eggs and the like yourself to use your own cake mix.
Anyway, with the Funcakes mix you only need eggs, mix for a few minutes and then you're done.
If you are going to bake a cake in the slow cooker, the most important thing is that you know the tips and tricks to get the cake out of the slow cooker. And you undoubtedly already know that the mix is tasty, so that will be fine.
Once you've mixed the mix, it's ready to put in the slow cooker. To start, use parchment paper when making a slow cooker cake.
The parchment paper goes at the bottom of the slow cooker and goes up the sides as well. Don't worry about the creases in it. In fact… this gives the slow cooker cake a really nice shape when it's done. The baking paper that you use at the bottom ensures that your cake does not get stuck to the slow cooker and you can easily lift it out.
The mix goes into the slow cooker on the baking paper. Then you use another piece of baking paper which you put directly under the lid, so that not all the moisture comes back on the cake, but is collected by the baking paper. Just check what that looks like with the cinnamon rolls.
Tip:in the beginning I used baking paper under the lid of the slow cooker, but nowadays I prefer a tea towel. The tea towel naturally absorbs the moisture better than the baking paper.
First, set the slow cooker to 1 hour, high. Then about 3.5 hours on low.
Tip 2:Keep an eye on your cake. The reactions show that not every slow cooker takes the same time to cook the cake. The time is right with my slow cooker, but you may need it a little shorter.
After this time you can poke it with a skewer to see how the cake is doing. Note that the time may vary slightly with slow cookers. Do you think he is still too wet? Then you add another half hour.
The top of the cake will remain a little soft, butter cake-like. This is not bad at all, but actually very tasty and also means that the slow cooker cake tastes just a bit creamier than cake from the oven.
Sprinkle some powdered sugar over it and you have a delicious cake from the slow cooker!
