Tomorrow is Santa Claus. No one likes sweets as much as Saint Nicholas. But Sinterklaas switched to vegetable this year. According to his loyal helper Piet , vegan spice nuts are his favourite. You must now be wondering:can that succeed without butter? Oh yes, they taste very nice, thanks to this recipe by Miljuschka Witzenhausen.
Recipe vegan spice nuts
75 spiced nuts | 35 minutes
250 gr self-raising flour
125 gr dark caster sugar
1,5 tbsp biscuit spices
Pinch of salt
100 gr Flora Plant unsalted, cold and hard, in cubes
5 tbsp almond milk
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 175˚C
Take a bowl and mix the dry ingredients in it (self-raising flour, salt, sugar and biscuit spices)
Stir this with a spoon to remove any lumps.
Now cut the cold Flora Plant into lumps and add this to the flour as well as the almond milk.
Knead the whole thing well with your hands until you have a cohesive ball.
Roll into nice little balls and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Place in the oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
If you want to store them in a drum, let them cool down completely first.
