Ingredients
for 8 pieces
- 275 g wholemeal flour
- 125 ml unsweetened oat milk
- 75 g Becel Creamy, at room temperature + extra for spreading
- 400 g minced seitan
- 7 grams (1 bag) of dried grist
- 4 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp fine granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 tsp mustard
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground coriander seed
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp mace
- ¼ tsp ginger
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Preparation method
- Heat the oat milk briefly in the microwave or saucepan until it is warm, but not boiling. Add the dried yeast and sugar and let it stand for 5 minutes.
- In the meantime, free up a large work surface and divide the flour and salt over it. Make a heap of the flour and make a well in it where you then pour the milk-yeast mixture. Add the butter and mix the mixture in the well with your fingers to a paste and gradually add more flour from the edge until a cohesive whole is formed.
- Knead the dough firmly for 5 minutes into a dough ball. Divide the dough ball into 8 equal pieces. Roll the pieces into balls, divide them over a baking tray lined with baking paper, cover with a clean tea towel and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, make the filling:mix the minced seitan with the mustard, soy sauce, sunflower oil, ground coriander seed, nutmeg, foil, ginger, cayenne pepper and the breadcrumbs. Divide the filling into 8 equal parts and set aside.
- Roll out the buns in an oval shape using a rolling pin and divide part of the seasoned seitan mincemeat over it. Fold the short sides of the dough over the filling, then fold the long sides in. Press the dough down and place the rolls, fold side down, back on the baking tray lined with baking paper. Repeat this step with all remaining dough balls and cover the buns with a clean kitchen towel. Let rise for another 45 minutes.
- Heat the oven to 200 °C, cover the sausage rolls with Becel Creamy and bake the sausage rolls in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until they are golden brown.
