If you like herbal teas, you'll love bissap.
It is a refreshing drink full of benefits.
I reveal here the easy and traditional recipe for bissap infusion.
It is also called karkadé or more simply:hibiscus flowers.
And it is a highly prized ingredient in Africa for its many virtues.
This potion can be drunk both hot and cold.
It was a Senegalese friend who gave me his tip for preparing a bissap-based drink in a few seconds.
All you need is a little water and hibiscus flowers. Watch:
Contents
- 6 tablespoons of bissap flowers
- 1 liter of water
- large bowl
- kettle
- strainer
- sugar
1. Put the water in the kettle and boil it.
2. Meanwhile, put the flowers in the large bowl.
3. Pour boiling water over it.
4. Leave to infuse for 20 minutes.
5. Pass the infusion through the strainer to filter the mixture.
6. Sweeten to your taste.
And There you go ! Your homemade bissap infusion is already ready :-)
Easy, quick and delicious, right?
This African infusion can be enjoyed both warm and cold by adding ice cubes.
You can add a few mint leaves, lemon or a little pineapple juice.
Did you know that there are red or white bissap flowers?
Both varieties are excellent in infusion.
Hibiscus tea has been known since ancient Egypt for its health benefits.
If you suffer from high blood pressure or cholesterol, this drink is for you.
But these are not the only virtues of this red liquid.
Here are all the good reasons to drink it every day.
I advise you to use fresh or dried organic bissap to prepare your drinks.
A priori:no!
However, you should avoid over-consuming hibiscus. 7 cups a day is the limit not to exceed.
Why?
Because at high doses, the liver could suffer.
But it is also not recommended for pregnant women, because karkadé triggers menstruation. It should also be avoided during breastfeeding.
