A plain steamed potato is pretty bland isn't it? To give them character, I offer you a recipe that could not be easier and quicker to make.
The original little kitchen trick to spice up your steamed potatoes or boiled potatoes is to perfume the water with cooking vegetables.
You don't need to be a great cook for that! You just have to peel the potatoes before cooking them, so that they soak up the various spices and herbs added.
All you have to do is pour the vegetables into the water, heat it up and add what you want :bouquet garni, cloves, stick of lemongrass, chilli, curry, cumin... Cooking is how we like it!
On the plate you find well flavored potatoes; it's much tastier than plain vegetables. You can eat them as they are, make a potato salad, or add butter, a little fleur de sel and a few sprigs of chopped parsley... Cooked like that, I could eat tons of them;-)!
The cooking water for potatoes and other vegetables can be flavored as desired. It's a cheap recipe. (barely a few euro cents), and as it does not waste more time than usual, there is no reason to deprive yourself.
So don't hesitate to make your dishes original, it changes habits and it's much tastier.
