This baked chicken recipe comes down to one simple formula:chicken + thematic seasoning + vegetables + grated cheese =delicious, balanced meal ready in minutes.

One of the flavor combinations that has long been on my to-do list is broccoli with bechamel sauce. I knew this would be a must since it's a fun recipe for the kids and one of my husband's favourites.

But at first, I was a bit stuck... Because making a béchamel sauce myself was a bit too complicated and long for a busy weeknight. So, I kept the idea in the back of my mind while waiting for a little spark.

And when I came across one of these ready-made béchamel sauces… it clicked! It was done ! This was the missing piece of the puzzle for this dish I wanted to create. It gave me the boost I needed to be able to make this recipe super simple for a speed night.

So it's a quick dish to make:you won't be disappointed. It will be ready in 10 minutes, or maybe less and hop in the oven.

Ingredients

- 3 chicken fillets

- ready-made bechamel sauce

- frozen broccoli heads

- grated cheese

How to

1. Take a baking dish. I use this Pyrex oven dish.

2. Lay your chicken fillets flat on the bottom of the dish.

3. Place the broccoli heads still frozen on the chicken fillets.

4. Pour the béchamel over the top of the broccoli evenly.

5. Sprinkle grated cheese on top of the dish. Your dish is now ready to go in the oven.

6. Bake at 200°C for 45 to 65 minutes or until the chicken is cooked.

I put a lot of emphasis on the fact that this dish is easy to make. But let's take 1 min to say how delicious it is!

The bechamel is perfect. It is just thick enough for the dish to hold together well. Mixed with Gruyère, it gives a generous and creamy sauce that my family loves.

My kids devoured the nutrient-rich broccoli coated in béchamel, no questions asked. So that's a win, my friends!

Additional advice

- Me, I cook my dish halfway up in the oven and it doesn't need to be covered. But each oven varies in size and temperature. So keep an eye on your dish. If you don't want it browning more, cover it with a sheet of baking paper for the rest of the cooking.

- I served this dish with rice. But if you want something lighter, you can serve it on a bed of spinach.

- You can even use up leftovers by chopping them up and putting them in wraps with romaine lettuce. Yum!

- It's a versatile dish, easy to adapt to new recipes, for even simpler lunches or dinners throughout the week.
