January 6 is Epiphany! The time has come for me to prepare my traditional apple galette des rois recipe. A real delight, even the Three Kings want more!
For 2 years, I no longer buy ready-made galettes des rois sold on the supermarket shelves. Too much disappointment, it must be said that they are rarely good to die for!
As they say "you are never better served than by yourself", so I decided to take things in hand and I present to you my recipe for galette des rois stuffed with apple.
Ingredients
For 8 people
- 2 puff pastry ready to unroll
- 800 g sugar-free apple puree (canned)
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 apples
- 1 egg yolk
I start by preheating the oven to 200°C . Then in a salad bowl , I pour the apple puree that I mix with brown sugar .
Then I get myself a pie tin to roll out my puff pastry well at the bottom of it as well as on the edges. Warning:I don't forget to prick the dough with a fork to make cooking easier.
I peel and then cut the apples which I will later distribute in the bottom of the pie . I cover everything with apple puree and I insert the bean !
I can now place the second puff pastry on the apple puree and close the whole thing by pinching the edges of the two doughs all around my mold and then roll them inwards.
Now all I have to do is brush on with a brush the top of the galette with the egg yolk and to draw patterns on the dough using a knife.
I put my galette in the oven for 40 minutes and I watch the coloring so that it is golden brown.
Now, I let my delicious galette des rois cool down a bit before I can devour it. Want a slice?
