When we discovered the unicorn macaroons offered by Mac Lab Bakery in Duluth, Georgia, we thought we had reached the pinnacle of “cuteness”. You have to believe that the imagination of the aces of the stove has no limit (and that's good)! This time, it was the creations of a certain Melissa, better known as Melly Eats World (that's her nickname on Instagram), that made us fall in love. Kittens, pandas, pigs, hens… This amateur and self-taught pastry chef based in Toronto, Canada, unveils adorable macaroons in the shape of animals! An idea that came to him thanks to his three-year-old nephew. “By dint of staying with him, I started to see the world through his eyes. I wanted to do cute, whimsical things and make people smile,” she tells us.
Pastry is a real passion for this young woman, who has cultivated this hobby since her childhood:“For me, it is a therapeutic process, a bit like an edible scientific experiment. I'm that girl who bakes six dozen cupcakes the night before an important exam because it de-stresses me,” she explains. She masters this hobby to perfection, since her gourmet works are incredibly precise:the pastry chef even goes so far as to draw the tails of animals on the back of her macaroons! “Some of my achievements can take up to eight hours for only two dozen. It really is a labor of love,” she tells us.
On Instagram, Melly Eats World showcases its creations in a neat and original way, thus attracting nearly 12,000 Internet users! And success seems to be there, since the pastry chef specifies that there is a wait to order her macaroons. For a baby shower or a birthday, Melissa's delicacies are perfect. So perfect that we are not sure to dare to bite into it!
