You only need half a lemon and you won't don't know what to do with the other half?
With us, we don't throw anything away, and here's how to store an opened lemon.
My recipe called for lemon juice. Well, just half.
That's all very well, but I'm thrifty and it's out of the question to go and put this other half in the trash.

Several solutions are possible so as not to spoil anything. Whether I want to make a recipe or get rid of bad smells from the fridge, I always have half a lemon on my hands.
Here are my 3 secrets for not having to put half of my lemons in the trash (what a sacrilege by the way!).
Definitely this white vinegar, it is used for everything. To soothe my sunburn from previous beach vacations, to soften my laundry or to calm that pesky mosquito bite (that's what it's like to go on vacation at the edge of the swamps!).
To preserve your lemon half with vinegar, it's very simple. Just put a little vinegar in a saucer. Then I put the lemon face down in the saucer filled with vinegar.
This is a second option that is just as easy to make. We know the benefits and harms of salt. It helps us to deep clean our pans and our bathtub. Now it will also allow us to keep our lemon.
I put fine salt on the flesh part of the cut lemon and I can keep it longer. To use it, I just have to cut a thin slice of lemon to eliminate the salty part.
Finally, the third solution and perhaps the simplest, because it comes from the tap:plain water . Just fill a glass with water and dip the lemon head in it cut down. Once immersed in water, it will last a few more days in perfect condition.
It all depends on where I keep my lemons.
At room temperature, I can store my lemons for 1 to 2 weeks .
In the fridge, they keep 2 to 3 weeks . They can be kept 3 months when immersed in a bowl of very cold water changed daily and left in the fridge.
