There's no cheese in it, is there?
Peanut butter originates from America, where the peanut butter is called. When peanut butter came over to the Netherlands, it was not allowed to be called 'peanut butter' here. Due to the rules in the Netherlands, only products with at least 80 percent milk fat may use the name 'butter'. After much consideration, the product was compared to liver cheese, which also contains no cheese at all. Calvé then came up with the now so familiar name peanut butter.
