Indispensable for afternoon tea in England, but they are also fun to serve at other times:scones.
Ingredients for 10 servings
- 300 g flour
- 50 g butter
- 50 g sugar
- 5 tsp baking powder
- 60 ml milk
- 70 g raisins
- 2 eggs
- Peel of half a lemon
Get started
- Cut the cold butter into cubes.
- Put the flour, baking powder, lemon zest, sugar and butter in a food processor. Mix it until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs.
- Add the milk and eggs.
- Mix until a dough forms, but do not mix for too long. Then add the raisins.
- Dust your work surface with flour and roll out your dough until it is 3 cm thick.
- With a round shape you can stick out the scones. Place them on a baking tray.
- Let the scones rest for five minutes and bake them for 5 minutes at 200 degrees. Then set the temperature to 18 degrees and bake them for another 5 to 10 minutes.
