Applesauce is a sauce made from apples and is widely used in cooking. It's delicious chilled, warm, on its own, in savory dishes or even while baking. However, it is usually bought ready-made in the store. Today we're going to show you how easy it is to make a healthy applesauce, filled with nutrients and vitamins. You only need a few basic but quality ingredients. Did you know it can even be used as an egg substitute in baking recipes? It's vegan friendly!
Ingredients:
– 3 pounds of Goudreinet apples
– 1 cinnamon stick or 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
– 3 tbsp sugar (adjust as desired)
– ¾ cup of water
– 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
Instructions:
1. Peel, core and cut the apples into large squares.
2. In a large saucepan, add the apples, sugar, water and cinnamon and bring to a boil. Then lower the heat and cover. Stir occasionally. After 30 to 35 minutes, the apples should be cooked. If the applesauce starts to stick to the bottom of the pan, you can add a few tablespoons of water.
3. Once smooth and looking like a sauce, remove from pan and place in jars.
