Got overripe bananas?
And you don't know what to do with them because nobody wants to eat them?
It would still be a shame to throw them away, wouldn't it?
Don't worry, at comment-economiser.fr, we don't like waste.
So here is an easy and quick recipe to use up bananas that have blackened.
I named the recipe bananas flambéed with orange and rum. Look, it's quite simple:
Contents
- 1 large overripe banana
- 2 tablespoons of white or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 2 tablespoons of orange juice
- 2 tablespoons of rum
- the zest of 1/2 an orange
- ice cream or whipped cream (optional)
1. Put a frying pan on the fire.
2. Sprinkle the sugar to caramelize it.
3. Add the butter.
4. Mix.
5. Add orange juice and zest.
6. Stir to obtain a thick sauce.
7. Add the bananas.
8. Drizzle the juice over the bananas.
9. Pour in the rum.
10. Use a match to ignite the rum.
11. Let flambé while continuing to baste the bananas.
12. Remove from heat.
There you go, your bananas flambéed with orange and rum are ready to be tasted :-)
All that remains is to serve your flambéed bananas with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.
Know that you can also put honey instead of sugar.
If you don't like the taste of rum, you can replace it with Grand Marnier or Cointreau, for example, which will accentuate the little orange taste.
Of course, if you don't like oranges too much, you can also leave them out of the recipe to make the classic flambéed banana recipe.
