Today I suggest you go to the other side of the 'Atlantic with the recipe for the traditional New York Cheesecake. A pure delight!
Here are the ingredients for a delicious cake, creamy and unctuous as you wish:
- 200 g speculoos powdered
- 50g melted butter
- 600 g of natural fresh cheese (Philadephia or St Môret type)
- 1 teaspoon of untreated lemon zest
- 25 g of flour
- 100 g heavy cream
- 20 cl of milk
- 3 eggs
- 150g caster sugar
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C. Mix the speculoos powder with the melted butter, spread this mixture well at the bottom of a 20 cm diameter mold and bake for 10 minutes.
3. Whisk the cream cheese to loosen it. While continuing to beat, add the fresh cream, sugar, flour, eggs, milk and lemon zest.
4. Pour the mixture over the lukewarm speculoos paste, and put the cake in the oven for 10 minutes at 210°C. Then reduce the temperature to 90°C and cook for 1 hour. Finally turn off the oven and leave the cake inside for 1 more hour.
5. Afterwards, it's like cheesecake with cottage cheese:let cool the cake and refrigerate overnight.
If you followed everything, you should have a firm and very creamy Cheesecake. With a good cup of coffee, and some fresh fruit, you'll feel like you're in a New York cafe!
Well, this cake recipe is not the most stingy, but even if you're thrifty, you still have the right to treat yourself from time to time.
And honestly, it's much smarter and more reasonable to put €6-7 in ingredients for a homemade cheesecake than 4€ for an unfortunate slice of the same cake at Starbucks...
If you don't want to spend too much, the trick is to concoct it for special occasions :dinners with friends, themed breakfasts, birthdays... You will appreciate it even more in small doses.
