What makes gyozas so delicious is their "crispy-soft" cooking.
By the way, it's so delicious that I wanted to try the recipe :-)
And you know what ? I actually found that homemade gyozas are super easy to make !
We prepare the stuffing, we put it in the middle of a dough. A few folds to make the ravioli, and hop in the pan!
So, without further ado, here is the easy and inexpensive recipe for gyozas, the delicious Japanese dumplings:
- 25 sheets for gyoza:you can find some cheap in the frozen section of Asian grocery stores
- ponzu sauce
- 120g minced pork
- 120 g green cabbage
- 1 spring onion, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 3 teaspoons of sesame oil
- salt, ground pepper
- 1 large pan with lid
1. Blanch the cabbage leaves for 1 minute in a pot of boiling water.
2. Drain the cabbage leaves, then slice them into very thin strips. Press them firmly in Paper Towel.
3. In a large bowl, combine all the stuffing ingredients:ground pork, green cabbage, spring onion, clove of garlic, grated fresh ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil.
Your prank should look like this:
4. Place a heaping teaspoon of filling in the middle of each disc of gyoza dough.
5. With your fingers, moisten the edge of the dough all around the stuffing.
6. Fold the dough in half to envelop the stuffing. Make sure to enclose the minimum amount of air in the liner.
7. Pinch small folds with your fingertips to seal the gyoza tightly.
Here's how to do it in video:
8. Now heat a drizzle of sesame oil in a pan.
9. Grill the gyoza on one side only for 2-3 min, just long enough to brown them.
10. Then, in the pan, pour water halfway up the gyozas.
11. Cover the pan and cook over high heat until all the water has evaporated.
12. Remove the lid and continue cooking for 1 short minute.
There you go, your delicious homemade gyozas are already ready to be devoured :-)
