The apple pie has a long Dutch tradition and is already recorded in the 1514 cookbook 'Een notabel boecxken van cokeryen'. Little is known about the origin of the apple pie. The fact is, however, that apple pie has become an indispensable culinary specialty. This can be found not only in the kitchen, but also on the menu in most restaurants. In most cases, a slice of apple pie is served with whipped cream and a cup of coffee.
The apple pie consists of (sand) dough and a filling of soft apple with raisins. In the surrounding countries (England and France) the apple pie is also a popular pie, although the recipes show major differences compared to the Dutch apple pie.
You don't need many ingredients to make the old-fashioned apple pie, according to grandmother's recipe. Moreover, the cake is easy to make. Thanks to the combination of apple and cinnamon, the house will smell wonderful while baking and you can enjoy twice as much. First of the smell and later of the delicious apple pie.

Before soaking, you can put the raisins in warm water for half an hour or you put them in warm rum. Soaking is not necessary per se, especially if you buy soft raisins directly. If you do, there is a chance that your apple pie will get too wet and fail
Start by preheating the oven to 175°C while making the apple pie
For the dough, cut the butter into cubes and knead it together with the sifted flour, sugar, a pinch of salt and of the egg into a dough
Roll out 2/3 of the dough into a round that is larger than the springform
Place the dough in the springform pan so that the bottom is covered and the rest forms a raised edge. If this is too difficult, you can also do it differently:take about 1/3 of the dough and roll it out into a round piece that is the same size as your springform. Place the dough in the spring form. Take another 1/3 of the dough and make a dough roll that fits all around the inside of the springform. Flatten the rolling pin on the sides to create a raised edge
The filling of the apple pie is made as follows:wash and peel the apples and then cut them into small cubes. Add the lemon juice, cinnamon, sugar and raisins and mix well with a spoon
Place the filling in the dough-lined springform pan (the filling should stay about half a centimeter below the edge of the dough
Make a grid of dough from the leftover dough by rolling out the dough and cutting long strips that you place horizontally and then vertically on the apple pie
Place the apple pie in the preheated oven and let it bake for about 50 minutes
Apple pie tastes best if you serve it lukewarm, possibly with a dollop of whipped cream
