If you are not serving your mulled wine right away, heat it slightly before serving.
This quick and easy mulled wine is full of flavor and will warm you up quickly.
It's super pleasant after a good walk outdoors in winter. In addition, its characteristic smell spreads throughout the house.
And of course, you can enjoy it on its own or accompany it with little Christmas shortbread.
- Traditional Alsatian mulled wine, Auvergne mulled wine, Savoyard mulled wine... Each region has its own personal touch to make its mulled wine. But the base is a drink with red wine, spices and a sweet flavor like honey or sugar.
- Some put Kirsch in it... others Orangina! It's up to you to see according to your tastes.
- Another variation is to put the quartered oranges in the saucepan and bring them to a boil with the rest of the mixture. You will then feel more the taste of oranges.
- But if you like sweeter and more fragrant flavors, you can simply add 3 tablespoons of orange blossom honey, organic lemon juice and its zest and a tablespoon of grated nutmeg to your preparation. Their subtle and spicy flavors enhance the taste of mulled wine and give it more character. If you add honey, do not add sugar! In this case, honey replaces sugar.
- If you want your mulled wine to have a more sustained and pronounced taste and for the spices to bring out their flavours, leave it to marinate for 10 hours after bringing it to the boil. When ready to serve, reheat it gently. It's a treat!
