Haven't bought your Easter eggs yet?
I understand you ! Every year it costs a fortune!
So why not make your own Easter eggs with leftover chocolate bars?
Here is an idea for an original chocolate dessert that children will love!
I tested for you this inexpensive recipe that young and old particularly appreciate:chocolate boiled eggs.
Don't worry, it's quite easy to do. Follow me in the kitchen…
- 6 eggs
- 200g milk or dark chocolate
- 20 cl of liquid fresh cream
Preparation: 10 mins. Cooking: 10 mins
1. I wash the eggs in cold water and dry them.
2. Using the tip of a knife, I make a small hole on the most pointed part of the egg.
3. I gradually enlarge it until I have a hole with a diameter of 2 cm, then I empty the eggs into a bowl.
4. I gently wash the inside of my empty shells under running water and let them dry.
5. In a saucepan, I heat the fresh cream and the chocolate broken into small pieces over low heat.
6. I mix well until you get a smooth paste.
7. I fill the shells with this preparation.
8. I put them in the fridge for 5 hours for the chocolate to harden.
There you go, you have made your own homemade chocolate eggs :-)
To fill the shells of my chocolate preparation more easily, I place the hollowed-out eggs in an empty egg box. They will thus be better maintained.
Similarly, before serving, for a prettier presentation, I enlarge the opening of the eggs by breaking the edges irregularly. Then I place them in egg cups.
I can taste them with a small spoon because the chocolate mixed with the cream does not harden completely. They remain soft in the middle, slightly harder on the edges. You can even dip a small piece of brioche in it!
And then, as I don't like waste, I keep my egg yolks cool in the fridge to make a delicious omelet!
- 6 eggs:€1.50
- 200 g of chocolate:€0 since these are leftovers!
- 20 cl of liquid fresh cream:€2.90 per liter or €0.58
Either 1 chocolate boiled egg costing me €0.34 or 6 Easter eggs at €2.08.
