Recipe for Mother s Day:French toast sticks with fresh red fruit

How nice is it to be surprised by your kids with this cheerful breakfast on Mother's Day! French toast; a delicacy that will not be new to many, but should certainly not be forgotten.

These French toast sticks give a fruity twist to the beloved breakfast. The brioche bread provides an extra sweet taste and works well in combination with the fresh fruit.

Ingredients

For 4 people

  • 8 slices of brioche bread
  • 20 g white caster sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • Blue Band Liquid Every Day
  • 250 g fresh strawberries
  • 100 g raspberries
  • 100 g blueberries
  • maple syrup, to taste

Preparation method

  • Cut the brioche into 8 thick slices and then halve them, so that you get a total of 16 brioche sticks. Divide the brioche sticks over a deep plate.
  • In a bowl, mix the white caster sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract, and add the milk and egg. Beat it all together with a fork. Pour the mixture over the brioche sticks and let it rest for 2 minutes.
  • In the meantime, heat Blue Band liquid in a frying pan and fry the sticks per four pieces for 2-3 minutes per side. Repeat this step until all French toast is cooked.
  • Distribute the French toast sticks between plates, garnish with fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and maple syrup to taste. Serve immediately!
